about

Rob Young UNCUT magazine 2008

Eerie electronica from the England that nobody knows...

Like its predecessor 'An Audience of Art Deco Eyes', the second album from the enigmatic Moon Wiring Club comes slathered in the fiction that it's arrived in our world from an older, weirder England. Its brutalist sampling, downtempo drums and bobbing phantom voices place it firmly in Boards of Canada's wake, but MWC own a cooler video collection, and stripmine that for soundbites from The Midwich Cuckoos, Hammer Films, occult children's television and the BBC Home Service. The album's whimsical, macabre tenor is effortlessly sustained: you can almost hear the cornfields bursting through the concrete.
